Meyer Ranch Park, located off of highway 285, is a 397-acre area perfect for hiking and family picnics. This area, with its heavy forested slopes and grassy meadows, has become a community landmark. Originally named after its former owners, Norman and Ethel Meyer, this park has a colorful history. The land was homesteaded by Duncan McIntyre and Louis Ramboz built the present ranch house in 1889. Wildflowers such as columbine, wood lily, shooting star, lady slippers, Indian paintbrush, larkspur, showy daisy and iris, decorate trailed paths surrounded by lush meadows and aspen groves.

Reynolds Park was originally named in memory of John A. Reynolds who was the first to be settled in Colorado’s pioneer era. Pack trains traveling between Denver and Leadville often made stops at the Reynolds ranch house, which also served as a Pony Express way station. The diverse terrain is the most striking characteristic of this park. A mixture of gentle valley trails and the rugged upper elevation trails gives hikers more variety. Plant life includes the Ponderosa pine, blue spruce, Douglas fir, juniper, aspen, scrub oak and the Rocky Mountain maple. Wild animals include the wild turkey, black bear, grouse, deer and elk.
